My supplies arrived, my snakes arrived, and here are the pics.
I'll start at the most recent and work backwards. First the rattlesnakes, as their cage took the least work. Then the copperhead cage.
I would also like to say, that you have never experienced strange looks like carrying a crate out of airport baggage claim marked "LIVE VENOMOUS SNAKES" on all sides in big black letters.
Red Diamond Rattlesnakes (Crotalus exsul, formerly C. ruber)

Southern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix)
And now for the copperhead cage. It's a 55 gallon aquarium, the background is formed with greatstuff foam from Lowe's. The stuff covering it is coco fiber bedding "glued" on with brown silicon. This was the most painful part of the process.....soooooo much attention to detail. The top locks via a sliding shelf that slides up and down on the rails. There is a steel cable running through the shelf that is fastened to one side, and secured with a padlock on the other side so that the entire shelf is held flat against the screen lid.

Karen, if you ever get the chance to meet caiman, take it. He is very interresting and you will never again have to ask if he's crazy.
Caiman, that is a very neat display you have designed. Out of curiosity, do you keep anti venom nearby?

Tc, no. Copperhead venom isn't considered lethal, so the potential allergic reaction to anti-venom generally isn't negated by any benefit of receiving it.
And with the rattlesnakes, while they do get larger than some, their venom is considered less potent than the likes of timbers and diamondbacks, but is similar in design. So any hospital that banks venom for local rattlesnakes would be able to treat a bite from my red diamonds.
That being said, I leave nothing to chance and always use snake hooks when I need to transport them from their cage to a temporary enclosure.
And...Tc....I think that's the nicest thing you've said about me...even if that was an affirmation of my potential insanity :D
Ummm....potential?? ;)
I must be mellowing in my old age.
