View Full Version : Welcome...again!
Welcome to a new era for Tom's Place!
We are now one big happy family in one big happy forum!
You will need to reregister, but PLEASE do! It cant be helped, and I must approve you to avoid spammers. I have to work a few hours daily at the market so if it takes a few to get you approved I do apologize.
There are lots of new features and more of the old faithful will return as i can....so get familiar with it again once you are approved...and welcome back...
Tom
That was relatively painless, and without hitches. I hope their rest of the crew makes their way back.

Kind of a good, warm feeling being with friends here. As a survivor of MANY itterations, I think we have now moved forward for all. EG is alive in many of our memories, and FB/FB will be here (at least for the playoffs):D As always, a very well done professional job Big Guy.
DF
I can see a few little things that need done, but it seems solid and has that rustic appeal of a condo overlooking that big Piranha Pond out there...as the sun sets on an era and rises on a new....
dang...waxing philosophic isnt a good look for me is it?<G>
14 registrations today...didnt know that many of us were still around honestly...and some important current users are yet to rejoin...so we are still a force it seems.
I am proud to call you all friends!!!

You know you are getting old when you go from "Member Emeritus" to "Junior Member" *Chuckle* May we have a prosperous and blessed 2008.
DF
Now THAT is something I must attend to. Sorry John, but Junior Member just isnt you....
Hello all. Hope everyone's Year is off to a good start.
Tom, out of curiosity, will this be strictly forums or will you attempt to start a chat again?
Nice to see the place will continue, catch y'all later.
Hey TC
I do want to get a chat going again...the flash chat has worked decently so I will wait till the integration script is released for this version of this forum...unless a different chat comes along that i can get working with it and is real nice...who knows...but yes...a chat is part of the tradition and it would be nice to have it available again.
Thank you Tom, also, I hope you don't mind if I attempt to add the YATFS auctions to the calendar. Perhaps even the Pittsburgh and Erie auctions if I can find them. Maybe someone can add other events.

Howdy folks - fittingly enough, my last aquarium was picked up this weekend from a craigslist ad.
PLEASE Go for it.
We should keep abreast of the hobby...even if the site isnt geared for it these days...and those days at YATFS with everyone gathering were some of my fondest memories.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! & HAPPY NEW HOME!!!
It looks lovely Tom. Thank you so much!!! Mega hugs to you!!!
Glad to see DF, Aye, H, and the rest. It feels so good to be home with the gang. :)

Gee, I hate to go off topic here (is there such a thing as 'off-topic' anymore???)
We got some bad news on Dad's condition today. His surgeon stopped by this afternoon - Mom and Sis were there. Dad's kidneys and liver appear to be shutting down. He said that dialysis would just put more stress on his already weak body. The next 48hrs or so will tell. If his kidneys do indeed shut down, Dad would likely go into a coma. The surgeon said, "that's not such a bad way to go." His doctors and nurses are doing everything they can to make Dad comfortable and pain free. I guess that's all we can ask for right now. It's been a very long and draining 39 days. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
((((Aye)))). I will be thinking of you and your family.
EG ASTRONOMY UPDATE
Quantids Meteor Shower will peak tonight for those of you in the North and East. It is a meteor shower that is not as well known as the Perseids or Orinids but tonight it will be very impressive.
The Peak time is 1:40a.m. ET. The radiant or starting point will be roughly 1/4 of the way up in the East-NorthEast sky. The farther north and and east you are, the higher the radiant.
If you are in a good, dak location, expect from 30 to 60 meteors per hour.
Those of us in the South and West will have to look lower in the sky and there will be fewer meteors: 15 to 30 per hour maybe.
So for those of you in the north and east, bundle up and watch for some shooting stars to wish upon. :)

Gracious Heavenly Father:
I plead the Blood over Aye's dad. I ask for comfort where it's needed and healing where You desire, Abba. I speak that "peace that passeth all understanding" on the lives of Aye and her family, Lord. Please bless them and fill them with Your Spirit in order to give them the strength to deal with the challenges set before them, Lord.
I claim the victory of the cross over anything that would set themselves against Aye and her family in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen

Pretty well said Siber!! I am not religous per se, but Ayeland and her family are special to us and that prayer was really right on the money. Obviously all prayers and minions are working full bore.
Spent the day contemplating taking down the outdoor Christmas lights and cords. Operative word is CONTEMPLATING!:D Maybe tomorrow.
Very best wishes to all for a happy and prosperous 2008 and I sure am glad to have a line of communication with some folks, some I have met, others I hope to, but all are special. Hoping that "Jock" Kaptur can keep us informed on the Triathalon front.
Karen (kwj) is kind of our resident astronomer, and has provided great updates on celestial happenings, of course the weather is beyond control.
Very Best to all, DF

sorry to hear about your father aye...
would it be wrong to say i cant wait to go back to work? christmas vacation was nice, but bills are going to put a pain in the wallet here shortly :(
DF, down here we leave the lights and decorations up until Jan. 6 or King Day or Little Christmas- take your pick. :D
Hey Brandon. And no, it wouldn't be wrong. Sometimes you have to go back to work to get a vacation or break.
As for the updates, they will keep coming as long as you guys are interested. And I try to do the weather witch dance for clear skies, but I'm out of practice. Maybe DF can train a few minions to help on that front.
I hope everyone has a good weekend. Aye, my thoughts will be with you and your family. ((((( Aye and FAmily)))))

Hello everyone, and Happy New Year! :)
Site looks great Tom, and I'd love to see the chat back up and actually in use. I miss visiting with everyone.
*hugs* Ayeland. I've been there myself, and it always seems to sting more over the holidays.
I'd love to see what YATFS is up to; I enjoyed the last auction (even if I didn't see TC until I was on my way out the door) Just need someone to ride up there with me; buncha lightweights around here.
Anyway, it's great to see the site all shiny and new.

The Lord has called him home. Be joyous. What a long and wonderful life.
I lost my Father when he was 42. When doesnt matter. You had him to enjoy company with. To Share and now to remember.
Rejoice in his passage to reward!
I am so sorry Aye. It isn't any easier knowing he isn't suffering anymore.

Been racing RC's for awhile now, but not to long ago I decided to cutback this winter season and get back into the fish. I just got a free 90 complete set up(was salt) and a 110 tank only, needs a reseal so that will keep me busy for awhile.

Astro man!!! DUDE!!!!
How are ya? Mike and I are still making each other miserable, with our ferrets :P LOL
In all seriousness, mike and I are still together happy as can be since we got married almost 5 years ago.
Oh my gosh, its been THAT long? WOW!!!!
I remember when you were telling me I just HAD to visit a denny's because it was a high class establishment lol
Wow, five years already. Time sure does fly. Tom, do you happen to still have the photos from the YATFS auction that meri attended? I think it would be nice to have a photo gallery like that here. I think there may have been three of those auctions we had a fairly good "Tom's Place turnout", even Astro made one (nice to see you again Astro).
Congrats Meri on the 5 years. Time flies when you are having fun. You know it's a good relationship when you BOTH forget the anniversary and laugh about it.
Tc, I agree. A photo gallery would be kind if nice. Maybe one day I'll be computer literate enough to figure out how to upload pictures to it. :)

aby - the word 'behaving' doesn't exist in the astro-dictionary.
I don't think he'd know what it means.
Tc, I agree. A photo gallery would be kind if nice. Maybe one day I'll be computer literate enough to figure out how to upload pictures to it. :)
The pics Tc is referring to were on the YATFS site and i fear are gone.
But Karen...and everyone...not sure if you realized this or not, but this latest incarnation of the forums has a built in gallery system for every user. Its in the User Control Panel, and will let you upload pictures from your computer into albums you create. It is worth checking out...and I bet you have fun!
Bummer Tom. There were some good photos of a fair number of Tom's Place people. Amber, Astro, Davestall, Damerf, Meri, madman, Siklid, McDaphnia, Nancy, Sev, DF, and about a half dozen more I can't remember (sometimers disease). I sure do miss those get togethers. There was a nice group photo from one of the auctions. I thought I saved some on a 3 1/2 inch floppy, but I can't open any of them up for some reason. Oh well, guess we need to start again ;)
Lets see...Aye and Mr Aye was there...Kutubu....DJ/Amber...Lampy, Ignots and Mr. Syno made the OCA...Mojo did too....
And lest we forget the 3 Bills....
I agree, those were the best of memories.I also miss them greatly.
I am starting to actually feel well enough to consider getting out again...not sure about this year but it is coming. I have no vehicle as that van of mine died about three years ago and I never replaced it.
But things always get better....so they say....
I told you I was iliterate didn't I Boss? Thanks for letting me know though. I will most definitely check it out. :)

Hi everyone. It has been a long time since I have seen some of these names, but they sure haven't been far from my mind for very long. I'm still going strong with the planted tanks and rainbows, but having a three year old running around has refocused things a bit for me.
I am currently sitting in my apartment in Saltillo, Mexico. We had a beautiful 85F day here! Anyhow, I will be back home soon and look forward to hearing more from you all.

I don't know why I read that as unibrow and had a very disturbing vision of sev using planters peanuts as cologne. Unibomber is slightly less disturbing. More beleivable, but less disturbing  :D
